Recipe: Ras Malai

2 Sep

Ras Malai is a very famous traditional delicacy in Pakistan and India. Its sweet aroma, smooth texture and mouth-watering taste are enjoyed thoroughly by all and sundry. Below is a quick recipe of this yummy dessert.

Powder milk     1/2 cup
Egg                       1
Milk                      1 litre
Sugar                   1/2 cup
Kewra essence  2-3 drops
Cardamom          2-3
Baking powder   1 tbsp
Pistachios           for garnishing

1) Mix powder milk, baking powder and egg to prepare a dough. Now form small balls using this dough and set aside.
2) Boil milk in a pan and add cardamom, kewra essence and sugar. Stir well.
3) Add these balls to the milk prepared in step 2 and lower the flame. Cover the pan and let it cook on low flame for about 10-15 mins (or till the balls are well-cooked and look fluffy)
4) Take it off the stove and allow it to cool.
5) Garnish with pistachios and refrigerate it for about an hour.

I hope you’ll like this recipe. It’s easy and simple and doesn’t require too many ingredients. Try it at home and let me know how it turns out.
