Product Review: Shiseido BB Cream

5 May

11210301_10152716630520946_608669281_nBB creams are a rage these days. Personally, I am not a huge fan of these creams as I prefer using a moisturizer or a light base only but I love experimenting and trying out new products. So, I purchased Shiseido Perfect Hydrating BB cream with SPF 35 sunscreen. This cream is available in three shades: Light, Medium & Dark. I purchased the dark shade to only cover the dark spots. It comes in a 30 ml silver tube which is more than enough since only a few pea sized drops are sufficient to cover the entire face. 11198694_10152716630445946_1769072255_n

It is a multi-functional cream that also offers skincare benefits along with makeup effect. It claims to result in a vibrant looking skin that is moisturized and protected against UV damage. I rarely use it but I must say that it gives my skin a uniform tone and healthy glow while concealing pores and blemishes to a great extent. It also reduces the appearance of skin unevenness. The best part is that it has an oil-free texture which results in a light, comfortable feel. Since it is formulated with Thiotaurine to protect skin from harmful environmental aggressors and maintain youthful looking skin, the Skin Cancer Foundation recommends this product as an effective broad spectrum sunscreen (as mentioned on their website).

As a sample, I applied a pea sized drop of this cream on a burn scar that I acquired just today during an experiment in the kitchen. You can see how effectively it has covered up the blemish.

Pros:

  • Easy to apply
  • Oil-free, non-greasy texture
  • Spreads evenly
  • Covers most of the blemishes
  • Fairly priced

Cons:

  • Smell is not pleasant
  • Not waterproof (wears off even due to mild sweating)
  • Does not cover fine lines

This product can be purchased for just $ 35 here. I’ll give it 3 stars out of 5.
