Quick Tips for Strong Nails

Hey lovely lasses! Who doesn’t want strong, shiny and long nails? I guess each one of us desires to have such nails but only a few are naturally blessed with them. Those who aren’t then opt for acrylic nails but they weaken the natural nails and are not a healthy option. So, what to do now? Well, it’s not impossible to have such healthy nails naturally. Below I’ve compiled a few tips to take care of your nails.

1) Moisturize your nails and cuticles whenever you apply hand lotion.
2) Massage your nails to promote blood flow. Consequently, your nails will grow faster.
3) Use Acetone-free nail polish removers as acetone destroys natural oils present in the nails.
4) Avoid quick-drying nail enamels as they often contain high quantity of alcohol and formaldehyde.
5) Trim your nails regularly. Just like hair, proper trimming enhances nail growth and overall quality.
6) Always protect your cuticles and only have manicures/pedicures from salons that offer hygienic services. Else, you’ll be susceptible to nail infections.
7) Rub some almond oil on your nails and cuticles before going to bed. Vitamin E present in oil will strengthen your nails.
8) Apply diluted lemon juice on your nails to make them bright and shiny.
9) Include Vitamin B Biotin supplements in your diet (after discussing with your doctor, of course). Our nails are composed of keratin and such supplements will aid in nail growth.

10) Always file your nails from outside edge toward the centre. Never file back and forth on the tip of the nail, as this will weaken nails.
11) Never use nails as tools. We have scissors, knives and other things to scratch and cut.
12) Do not peel off old nail polish as it will damage your nail surface.
13) Read labels before buying any nail product and make sure that it does not have any harsh chemicals.

All these tips will definitely help you out ONLY if they are supported with a well-balanced diet. Remember, you are what you eat. So, eat healthy to stay healthy.

      Take a garlic clove (halved) and rub it on your nails. Let your nails absorb the juice. Then rinse off with plain water. Apply it twice a week. I know garlic doesn’t smell pleasant but this tip does work. Plus, consume a healthy diet.
