DIY treatments for dark elbows/knees

Hi lovelies! Yesterday I posted some natural remedies to prevent dark circles which were greatly appreciated by you all. Thanks a lot for visiting my blog and appreciating my write-ups 🙂

Today I’ll talk about some really effective remedies to prevent dark elbows and knees which are mostly common in South Asians. Nothing can be more embarrassing than having knees and elbows with uneven skin tone, especially when you wear sleeveless/short dresses. Don’t you worry. I am here to help 🙂

Dark elbows/knees ars basically due to dead cells and require regular exfoliation. So, if you have any scrub or exfoliator at home then use it to clean your elbows/knees. Please don’t forget to moisturize your skin after exfoliation, else, it will get darker. Some natural ingredients also serve the purpose equally well. Below are my top 3 effective and all-natural remedies.

1) Turmeric

Make a paste of 1tsp turmeric powder, 1tsp granulated sugar and 1tsp olive oil. Apply on your dark areas in circular motion. Rinse off. Turmeric is a natural skin brightening agent while sugar will scrub your skin. Olive oil will condition and moisturize the skin.

2) Baking Soda+Milk

Mix enough milk in baking soda to dampen it only and not form a runny solution. Apply this thick paste on your elbows and knees. Let it dry for 15mins and scrub off. Don’t forget to moisturize later.

3) Gram Flour+Lemon

Mix gram flour and lemon juice to form a paste. This is an excellent scrub for skin. Apply twice a week at least for better results.

You may opt for any moisturizer after these treatments but I’d recommend using pure almond oil for this purpose. It is enriched with vitamin E and really soothes the skin.
