Hi ladies! I’ve been receiving a lot of queries about oily skin and how to take care of it especially during summers. I thought I should a post on it to facilitate all my readers.

Oily skin is the most troublesome kind of skin that requires proper care. Else, one would fall prey to blackheads, pimples, acne etc. Below are a few budget-friendly DIY face masks to pamper your oily skin.

1) Avocado and egg white face mask:

In most cases the oily skin is really dehydrated beneath the surface. Hence, a moisture boost in the form of avocado will actually help regulate the sebum production.

1 ripe avocado peeled and mashed
1 egg white
1 tbsp lemon juice

Mix avocado pulp, egg white and lemon juice to form a smooth paste. After cleansing your face, apply the mask onto your entire face making sure to avoid the eye area. Keep it on for 20 minutes then rinse it off with lukewarm water.

2) Orange and Aloe Vera face mask:

This combination works well to hydrate the skin and give it a matte effect by absorbing excessive sebum.

1 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice
1 tsp Aloe Vera gel

Mix the two ingredients together and apply after first cleansing your skin. Avoid the eye area and relax for 15 minutes, while the mask works its wonders. Rinse with lukewarm water and a gentle washcloth. Apply once, or twice a week.

3) Banana and Honey face mask:

The banana and honey face mask is known for its soothing properties. It replaces the oily shine with a healthy glow effectively.

1 banana, preferably ripe
2 tbsp honey
Drops of orange/lemon juice

Mash up the ripe banana, add honey and mix well. For best results, mix the ingredients in a blender. Now add a few drops of orange/lemon juice, and apply it on a clean face. Leave it on for 15 minutes and then proceed to rinsing your face using a cool washcloth, or a steaming warm washcloth. Follow up with your favorite moisturizer.

4) Cucumber, yogurt and oatmeal face mask:

The cucumber, yogurt and oatmeal homemade face mask soaks up the excess oil, balances and hydrates the oily skin.

1/4 cucumber
1 tbsp yogurt
1 tbsp ground oatmeal

Wash, peel and puree the cucumber and add one tablespoon of yogurt, and one tablespoon of oatmeal. Mix well until you get a smooth paste that you will smear on a clean face, in even layers. Allow for the mask to work for about 10 to 15 minutes, rinse it off with cool water and pat dry.

5) Strawberry, honey and lemon juice mask:

Strawberries and lemon juice contain natural ingredients which work in treating open pores and excessive oils. Thus, aid in preventing the acne outbreaks.

6 fresh strawberries
3 tbsp honey
2 egg whites
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice

Mash the strawberries with a fork or toss them in a blender until they are pulpy. Add lemon juice, honey and egg whites, making sure to blend them well together with a whisk. Apply the mask to your face after having previously washed it, avoiding the eyes. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water.

Do tell me if you try any of these remedies. Much love!
